The Verdict - Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR)
Rating | Good company, poor entry |
Current price | $125.65 |
Our fair-value range | $42-$53/share |
Business quality | Strong, risk-constrained - 3.95 / 5.00 |
Palantir's operating results are exceptional, but the stock trades far above the core fair-value range and even above the explicit bullish DCF outcome. This gap is the investment issue: operating momentum is strong, but the current valuation leaves little room for a slowdown.
What the market is betting on
Palantir sells mission-critical data, decision and AI software through Gotham, Foundry, Apollo and AIP. At $125.65, the market price requires roughly 61.7% annual operating free-cash-flow growth through 2031 under the report's base assumptions. That is an extraordinary hurdle even after management raised FY2026 revenue guidance to about $8.154B, implying 82% growth. The business can keep outperforming while the stock still disappoints if growth normalizes, margins miss the modeled path or investors stop paying triple-digit cash-flow multiples.
What the filings actually show
The filings support accelerating growth, expanding GAAP profitability, excellent cash conversion and a balance sheet.
Q2 revenue grew 93% to $1.935B, accelerating from already exceptional prior-year growth.
GAAP operating income reached $912M, producing a 47.1% operating margin.
Q2 cash from operations was $1.216B, or nearly 63% of revenue.
H1 filing-derived free cash flow reached $2.093B, equal to 108.3% of common net income.
Cash plus marketable securities totaled $9.409B, while the latest full quarterly filing showed no debt.
H1 stock compensation was $466.8M, or 13.1% of revenue, and remains a material shareholder cost.
Metric | Now | Prior comparison |
Revenue growth | 92.8% | 48.0% |

Three ways this plays out
If things break down: The stress range is $20-$30/share, containing the $23.40 bear DCF despite that case still assuming substantial revenue growth.
Most likely: Core investable fair value is $42-$53/share, where the $49.22 base DCF, $52.32 probability-weighted DCF and normalized cash-flow multiple converge.
If the bulls are right: The conditional $75-$90 zone centers on the $87.43 bull DCF, which requires extreme growth and derives 82.7% of operating value from the terminal estimate.
What would change our mind
The stock enters the $42-$53 range without a deterioration in guidance or contracted demand.
GAAP margins follow the base path while cash taxes normalize near 23% without damaging cash flow.
Stock compensation falls toward single digits as a percentage of revenue and dilution remains controlled.
